OP & ED: Pokemon theme songs in Hindi

An interview with Tom Wayland at Otakon 2011. Tom has worked at Central Park Media and 4Kids, dubbing anime since before DVDs were invented. We talk to him about his recent work on cartoons made (in English) for India.

From the Otakon press release:

Tom has produced and/or directed hundreds of anime programs such as Now & Then, Here & There, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Alien Nine, The World of Narue, Ichi the Killer, Mew Mew Power, Magical Do Re Mi, and GI Joe and currently serves as the voice director on the hit series Pokemon.

Tom is also a very busy voice actor having appeared in hundreds of titles currently airing on Cartoon Network, Fox, WB, Nickelodeon or available on DVD including Yugi-oh 5Ds as Crow, Lester, and Nervin, GI Joe as Stormshadow, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as Jammerhead, Pokemon as Flint, Reggie, Arceus, and numerous creatures, Ikki Tousen as Kakuton, Three Delivery, Yugi-oh GX, Chaotic, One Piece, Mew Mew Power, Knight Hunters, Genshiken, Gokusen, and keep an ear out for his latest work as one of the lead characters – Finn in Tai-Chi Chasers.

Show #86 – Live at Mike Toole’s Party Otakon 2011

Show #086 – Direct Download:

Audio from @michaeltoole’s party on Thursday night of Otakon, featuring @elliotpage and @DanielBriscoe and sometimes @colonydrop (OK, only one member of Colony Drop).

This is not our greatest show, and it’s unedited, but you get the exact verbatim experience of what it is like to talk to Erin at a party.

I’m releasing a bunch of shows to try and beat Anime World Order to episode 100.

This podcast is about:

My Unusual Manga Genres Panel from Otakon 2011!!! Hooray! I’ve been trying for five years to do this panel at Otakon:

Obviously there are a bunch of slides that go with this. You can follow along on a PDF, which I will have uploaded here.

Very ambitious “time rich” listeners are encouraged to cut a movie to the podcast and make it an mp4 that’s ipod/iphone compatible. Email me at ninjaconsultant (at) gmail (dot) com and I’ll hook you up with the slides as images.

Show #81 – Otakon 2010

Show #081 – Direct Download:

Music: The Yoshida Brothers (who were guests at Otakon 2010, and I really ought to have gone to that concert)

Starring podcast superstars:

Daryl, Clarissa, and Gerald of Anime World Order and Dave and Joel from Fast Karate.

At 23:20, we Erin interviews Ed Chavez of Vertical Inc. (and the MangaCast) about the sales of Chi’s Sweet Home.

Also starring:

David Cabrera of Subatomic Brainfreeze and Colony Drop, Evan Minto from Ani-Gamers and Tyler from the Rangercast.

There are two other people in this show, and I’ve forgotten their names (again).

Part of the show is devoted to discussing a single issue of Ageha magazine (pictured above).

The Great Otakon Podcast Picnic

This idea came up on Twitter some weeks back. The greater manga blogging/anime podcast community online wants to get together at Otakon for a meal. However, eating during Otakon is always a crazy juggling act of scheduling, convincing a restaurant to seat an absurdly large group, getting annoyed as they refuse to split the check, and then rushing back to the con in time to get wristbands before the hentai panels.

In the interest of accommodating as many people as possible and not spending too much money, we propose the following meet-up:

The Great Otakon Podcast Picnic (named loosely after Achewood’s Great Outdoor Fight)

When:  Friday, July 30th, from 7:45 ~ 10 PMish (they might kick us out by 9)
Where: If it isn’t raining, on the patio just off the mall food court
If it is raining, in the cafe space by the Starbucks near Registration
Who:  Podcasters, Bloggers and listeners and readers thereof
What to Bring: Not-easily-spoiling foodstuffs to eat and share. It’s sort of a pack-your-own lunch meet-up, with the option that you can bring (non-poisonous) shareable food should you feel so generous and/or ambitious to do so.  Perhaps you might also bring something to sit on, like a tarp or a blanket, although I’m not sure if that will be allowed in either location.

I chose this time because it is after the Funimation Panel and the AMV Contest, and slightly before the concert, although it is during the Otakon Game Show. Friday night was a suggestion from the Reverse Thieves.

Last minute Otakon roommate?

Hey guys, we could use one to three more Otakon roommates. We’re staying at the Brookshire, which is not the cheapest, but has free breakfasts and free microbrew beer on Friday night. I arrive Thursday night, we’re leaving Sunday afternoon.

Contact: ninjaconsultant (at) gmail (dot) com

And no, we don’t want to move to another hotel to stay in your room. We love breakfast.

Promo #5 – Otakon 2008

Promo #5 Direct Download:

We’re sharing tables with the Geek Nights people somewhere between F5 and F10 in the Otakon Artist’s Alley selling T-shirts and buttons. If you want to stop by, Noah says he’s not going to any panels this year (or something). All our panels got denied, but I felt less bad about it when Aurora Publishing couldn’t get a panel either.

Other podcasters will be there!! Including Anime World Order, Fast Karate for the Gentleman, Geek Nights, R5 Central, and the Rangercast! That’s like, half of the Otaku USA writers! I wonder if Joseph Luster will be there?!

Feel free to use my lame phone call promo on your own podcast in the next week!

Show #006 – The Last of the Otakon 2005 Coverage

Show #006 Direct Download:

The final bit of Otakon Coverage, I thought we had reviewed Steam although it turns out we didn’t.

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is available in anime and manga forms in the U.S.

NonDE Studios – makers of “This is Otakudom” and “Steam: The Movie” [you can’t download it anywhere, but you can watch these commercials for team EVIL, they’re pretty good, and it’s like a preview] – “That Guy” is actually Scott Melzner
Seirra Mist, “Yeah, it’s kinda like that.”

Brief mention of Dragon Half, which is actually really funny and you should totally watch it. It’s also only two episodes, so don’t be fooled by Alison’s mention of a non-existant third episode.

We complain about the Kaiju vs. Final Fantasy Film again.

Alison accidently calls it “Kaiba Big Battle,” which is pretty funny. Also you should read this amusing article from the Savage Love column about a high school girl’s love of Kaiba. My reaction: Your friend won’t find someone as hot and rich as Kaiba in her high school – but a Kaiba cosplayer could totally happen!

The “Inu Yasha is a biiiooooooooooootch” email:

The Prince of Tennis, the fake final episode fan parody. I don’t know a page for this parody, but if you know one, let me know.

Eyeshield 21 – the American Football anime and manga.

La Blue Girl – it’s not anime for a first date, but you could watch it with your boyfriend. (If you’re Alison, anyhow.)
